Quick and Easy Chunky Microwave Maple Cinnamon ApplePear Sauce

Maple syrup adds a nice flavor to the apples and pears. I have actually used a variety of different apples, depending on what I had on hand, with the same great results. The apple/pear sauce can be refrigerated for up to 2 weeks or frozen for up to 6 months.

Quick And Easy Chunky Microwave Maple Cinnamon Apple/Pear Sauce Ingredients

  • 4 Cortland apples - peeled, cored, and chopped

  • 2 Golden Delicious apples - peeled, cored, and chopped

  • 2 Bartlett pears - peeled, cored, and chopped

  • cup water

  • teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

How to Make Quick And Easy Chunky Microwave Maple Cinnamon Apple/Pear Sauce

  1. Combine Cortland apples, Golden Delicious apples, and Bartlett pears together in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Add water, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the apple-pear mixture and toss to coat.

  2. Cover bowl tightly with plastic wrap and cut a 1-inch slot in the center of the plastic wrap to allow steam to escape.

  3. Cook apple mixture in the microwave on high for 10 minutes. Carefully remove and discard plastic wrap. Stir apple mixture. Cook in the microwave on high until fruit is hot and tender, another 6 minutes.

  4. Stir maple syrup into fruit mixture. Cool completely before refrigerating.

Quick And Easy Chunky Microwave Maple Cinnamon Apple/Pear Sauce Reviews

  • I am the submitter of this recipe. If you want to lessen the calories a little bit more, you can omit the maple syrup and it still comes out great I have even added 1 tsp. apple pie spice instead of the cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup. Its like eating apple pie without the crust. Enjoy

  • Great recipe Where I was missing a few ingredients (pears and maple syrup), I changed it a bit. I used the apples I had on hand (3 med Golden Delicious, 10 tennis ball sized Red Delicious), 1/4 cup water, 2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg, and 2 tsp Truvia sweetener. I microwaved it in a Rubbermaid bowl, with the cover loosely placed on top, for the suggested time. It came out smelling and tasting great I will definitely make again. Next time, Ill use the pears and maple syrup.
